I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the original, Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness can you believe shirt but it’s very different. There is definitely some stereotyping but nowhere near as bad as a drag race, and as the episodes go on, you realize how deliberate the narrative is designed to break down the stereotype. They talk intimately about their own struggles coming to terms with being a human being but also handling those stereotypes. It’s honestly a beautiful show. The resounding message is to love yourself and constantly strive to improve yourself for You, and the way they dismantle toxic masculinity is fascinating.

They discuss things like the BLM movement, familial alienation, and the importance of chosen families and being a community leader. It’s no longer Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Sorry for the Dear Diary but this show means a lot to me. At the end of the day though, it is reality TV. It has its exploitative moments, but it is definitely worth a try. I’d disagree! His off-handed comments about California vibes and pot were appreciated.

Plus usually, the guys tend to shine most when they’re working their element (tans closet convos tends to be the most revealing of who he is as a person). Bobby and Antoni have less boisterous personalities that can’t compete in the group setting and their strength time isn’t something that gets filmed much and even shown less so their personalities aren’t fully on display. A really interesting and intelligent woman. I have listened to a few episodes, it’s pretty great and very conversational. She’s no JVN (but who is??) but she would definitely make the kid feel like a million bucks.
